Holiday Envy and Lana… and Holiday greetings

This will probably be my last release before the holiday season bites down hard – it’s really time I started some RL preparations..eek!  I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you so much for your business during 2009.  I know it’s been a tough one financially for everyone so even more this year I appreciate that you choose to spend your lindens at DollyRock.  I wish you and yours a joyous and peaceful holiday season and everything wonderful for the New Year :-)   Oh yes and have fun!

First new release this week is the must-have holiday outfit.  Holiday Envy is based on the Envy release from a few weeks back (you would never have guessed, right?)   The corset bodice, scarlet with embossed celtic knot motifs is belted around the heavy leather underbust.  The studded leather is carried down to join the tiny leather shorts.   The cropped bolero jacket includes an embossed celtic knot closure and studded trim.  The sculpted hood and skirt are generously trimmed with fur and textured in red leather.  The boots (sold separately) are sexy thigh highs with detailed red leather texture and zip detail at the rear.

Lana.   Deceptively simple and easy to wear short cocktail dress.  Satin texture with beautiful shading detail and a sexy flowing skirt.  I’ve included two glitch pants, one slightly longer than the other – up to you which one you wear.  Comes in three colours; pink, teal and red.

And there’s more….I haven’t forgotten the guys either.  Some new releases (in the RockSolid store in the mall outside the main store).   Shirt and pants, socks and a pair of basic shoes in each pack and don’t forget these are transferable (as are all DollyRock outfits) so perfect as a stocking filler for Christmas :-)

As always all the new releases are on sale, at the main store only, for 100L until midnight SL time tonight, Sunday 13th December 2009.  (Including the three packs for guys!)

Santa has left the building…

but he’s coming back! If you missed out on Santa’s visit yesterday maybe you’ll be able to catch him on Monday when he returns. Not sure of the exact time yet check the group notices for up to the minute info. (You can join the group by hitting the update sign in any DollyRock store).

We had a blast yesterday. The lag was horrible – but that’s a given; Santa wasn’t tooo grumpy even with his sleigh being hit by the lag monster and having to WALK into the store..lol.   It was the most good-natured line with innuendos and naughtiness just bouncing off he walls. I got a little over excited (I don’t get out much) and only remembered to take a few pics.

IT’S A TOUGH JOB!

AND WE WAITED…AND WAITED…

SANTA AND KARALYN

Santa’s visit or have I ever…

blogged THREE times in one day?  Well the news just piled up today and had to spill out somewhere :-)   Presents for lovely Divas time… Remember last year?  Long lines at the store, a bit of lag, girls stuck on Santa’s lap and lovely free DollyRock outfits?  Want to try that again?  After lengthy negotiations with Santa we have brokered a deal – it was tough, he demanded triple last year’s pay (danger money he said) which I reluctantly agreed to (between you and me I think he’s losing it, I didn’t pay him last year – RESULT!!).    Of course you have to tell him whether you’ve been naughty or nice and I’ll Mrs Claus will give you the appropriate present.  I know she’s made outfits especially for the occasion.  Time details have yet to be ironed out but its likely to be tomorrow (Saturday 12th December) for an hour or so – I’ll send out a notice with firmer information to the Diva group (if you’re not a member just click the sign at any DollyRock store – its Subscribe-o-matic so won’t take up a group.)   Watch your notices tomorrow – don’t miss out!

Mentoring memories

I’m an SL mentor.  I can only say for a little while longer as Linden Labs, in their infinite wisdom have decided to disband the group.  If you’ve never heard of Second Life mentors they are volunteers who choose to spend some (or all) of their time in Second Life helping others – mostly new residents who arrive fresh onto a Help Island full of queries and questions.  I have to be honest and say I haven’t been the most productive mentor.  I’ve spent some Sunday afternoons on Help Islands and one memorable day in November 2008  when cries went out for all hands to the pump and I spent a solid 8 hours gently explaining that there were other activities in Second Life besides sex after some rather undesirable media attention when SL was flooded with the curious!   I consider myself to have been a very junior member of this prestigious group and I take my hat off to the dedication and many hours they have given to helping new people and really making a difference.

Drakon Cortes had the great idea to immortalise the mentor group by putting aside a space to display the ‘Superstars’ we were given some time ago.  These are just some of the stars.

You can visit the Second Life Mentor Hall of Fame here

Yesterday was the last official day for Second Life Mentors but life goes on and several groups are set to continue this good work, via gateways and other venues.   Mentors are dead!  Long live the Mentors!

Winterfest or Winterfaire?

How is that the weeks in December only have half the number of hours?  Catches me every year, dammit!  I have such good intentions……

Anyhoo…. I made a little video with a few Christmas outfits and some shots of the new store at Winterfest or Winterfaire; I think Second Life seems to be confused over the name as I’ve seen both used this year.  Last year I only had a small plot at Winterfest with a tiny Christmas cottage, a lucky chair and a few outfits.  This time I was fortunate to get a bigger place and I decided to go to town and give us all cool place to hang out.

The Christmas collection of clothes is downstairs but this year its more about fun than business.  I built an ice castle!  Now okay SL builders don’t have a thing to worry about – I’m no builder – but what a lot of fun that was to put together.  On the roof there’s a ballroom and a separate stream piping Christmas music 24/7, and one of those fancy pants couples dance ball rezzer thingies that’s packed to the brim to Bits’n'Bobs couple dances.

The two little ice turrets have chairs and tables and there is terrific view over the gigantic Linden Lab’s  ice rink.  So when you’re tired from skating (free skates in the store downstairs), had enough of throwing snowballs (free snowball launcher also in the store) you can chill upstairs and watch the fun.  Best viewed at midnight and draw distance set to around 150 to help with rezzing :-)
