The Final Countdown….

Today’s the day….less than 24 hours until DollyRock is no more.  The sim is sold and will be cleared just before midnight tonight Friday 28th May 2010.

This is the end of the monster sale and your very last chance to grab those bargains, all the main store is set at 75L per outfit, the bargain basement is all 50L and I’ve put the xtra raunchy Xtreme out in the courtyard and they are all set to 75L too.  Perfect for your naughty alt or naughtier friend :-)   Everything is transferable except the freebies and lucky chair items.

So that’s it…..thank you again for your kind words.  Please keep an eye on this website or  follow me on twitter, plurk, or Avatars United and I’ll be sure to keep you updated with any news of my comeback with something new and exciting!

Oh yes…I’ve had a couple of people ask me if I’m ill….and no, no….really…I’m fine.  Just need a break, recharge the batteries, learn some new skills etc etc.  I’m not leaving SL so please say hi if you see me around.

THANK YOU…and goodnight :-)

Christmas in May

I’ve always thought it was a bit odd to put compliments from customers in your SL profile.  It just seemed to me to have a hint of desperation and made me feel uneasy – ‘Look all these people like me, you will too!’  However, as I’m closing down and not intending to us it as a sales technique it didn’t seem quite so crass and I thought that IF anyone said anything nice it would be lovely to record it and maybe publish it on the blog.

And you did say nice things.

Lots of them.  So many that I forgot to save them in the tumultuous first couple of days after the announcement and anyway, faaaaar too embarrassing to publish here.  I have been seriously overwhelmed at the kind and genuine messages both from regular customers that I know well and those I’ve never spoken to previously.  I have to admit to reaching for a tissue on at least half a dozen occasions and only able to type an inadequate ‘Thank you’ in response.   I’ve had offers of free stores, mall spaces and even land.  You lot are incredible!!

At the risk of this turning into a long winded Oscar type speech I just wanted to say that I appreciate your thoughtfulness and generosity more than you’ll know and I feel privileged to have played a tiny part in your Second Life.   I’ve never pretended to be the best designer in SL, there are many who are way more talented.   I just wanted to produce good quaility clothes, something to have fun with and in an honest way with no tricks or gimmicks.  You took DollyRock to your hearts and I’m truly grateful.  It’s been a blast and I hope, after a break, I can learn some new skills and come back fresh.

The last day of shopping at DollyRock will be 28th May 2010, slightly sooner than I’d planned – that’s this Friday, so just a heads up if you were planning a weekend shop – sorry!

Ah yes, Christmas in May.  I’ve had a couple of requests to put the Christmas outfits out in the store and your wish is my command so it is done.  Some of them are not really that seasonal, for example, the Holiday Envy boots.  I’ve slashed the prices on all the Christmas outfits, they start at 50L!  I’ve also put a FREE bumper Christmas stocking out with the FOUR free outfits from Christmas 08 & 09, so if you missed them..now’s your chance.  Final five days girls!

and yes, these boots are only 75L!

DollyRock: the movie

Nostalgia…pt 1.

Forgive me for indulging myself but I wanted to share some of the awwws…grrrrrs…and lolz from the last (almost) 4 years of DollyRock.

AWW:    First of all the breathtaking generosity of Julia Soothsayer, mega popular owner/designer of Awesome Designs who, when I was brand new, IMed me out of the blue to say she liked my designs and thought I’d do very well. I was blown away that someone as pretigious and awe-inspiring would take the time to notice me and I had to double-check her profile. This was really THE Awesome Designs owner? She was kindness itself and its something I’ve never forgotten.

LOLZ:  The guy who threatened to close down my store because he was annoyed that I didn’t actually sell the suit being worn by a male model accompanying my DollyRock model in a display picture.  How would he close me down?  Well, he knew ALL the strippers in Second Life and he’d tell them never to shop at DollyRock again!

Massive sale and…..so long, farewell…and it’s goodbye from DollyRock

Wow, this is a hard one to write. {deep breath} I’ve decided to close DollyRock. After almost 4 years, I think it’s time to move on, although, no doubt it’s going to leave a gaping hole in my life. There are going to be some big changes to Second Life over the coming months, so I’m going to take some time out and learn new skills and maybe return with something new and fresh. Alternatively I might get to finish the book I’m writing or just blog and twitter :-)

I need to tell you some things that are NOT going to happen. The DollyRock brand will be gone – I’m not selling to an affiliate or franchisee, not leaving a small shop anywhere, taking down everything from X Street (SL Marketplace) so all the outfits will be totally gone from the grid at the end of the sale. So get them while you can!

I’m having a massive sale for the next couple of weeks and ALL DollyRock outfits have been reduced to 75L (except the 50L store of course..hehe). All transferable, perfect for your alt or as gifts even if you have them already. So come down and turn on your music…I’ve put together a ‘goodbye’ playlist which is only a tiny bit of tongue in cheek :-)

Nothing else to say..except you really are THE BEST customers in Second Life and I can only thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the business, friendship, love and support you’ve given me over the years. THANK YOU!!

The website will stay for the forseeable future so check back for gossip or follow me on Twitter

(ps If you know anyone who wants to buy a full sim…slightly used, one careful lady owner….)
